Abarth's Rich History
Abarth is an Italian racing car and road car maker founded by Carlo Abarth in 1949. The company was known for producing high-performance versions of Fiat cars, and later, for developing its own racing cars
In 1952, Abarth introduced its first car, the Abarth 1500 Biposto, which was based on the Fiat 1100. The car was a success in racing, winning its class in the 1952 Mille Miglia and the 1953 12 Hours of Pescara.
In the 1960s, Abarth became closely associated with Fiat, producing high-performance versions of Fiat cars such as the 500 and the 124 Spider. Abarth also developed its own racing cars, including the Abarth 1000 Bialbero and the Abarth 2000 Sport Spider.
In 1971, Abarth was bought by Fiat and became the performance division of the company. Abarth continued to produce high-performance versions of Fiat cars, including the Fiat Ritmo Abarth and the Fiat X1/9 Abarth.
In the 2000s, Abarth was relaunched as a standalone brand by Fiat, producing high-performance versions of Fiat cars such as the Abarth 500 and the Abarth 124 Spider.
Today, Abarth continues to produce high-performance cars, and the brand is known for its racing heritage and distinctive scorpion logo.
